Going abroad with an Avis rental car

How does that work?

Summer vacation is in full swing! Therefore, it is time to get out and about by car. You want to go abroad, but how exactly does that work at Avis? Which countries are you allowed to drive to with a Dutch rental car? What to do in the event of a breakdown? We answer all of these questions!

Countries

To ensure our service and quality, you are allowed to drive to the following countries with your rental car: Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Finland, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Austria, Spain (except Ceuta and Melilla), United Kingdom, Sweden, and Switzerland. You do not need an international driver’s license for these countries.

Do let us know in advance if you plan to drive abroad.

Breakdown assistance

With Avis, you’ll never have any surprises. If you break down with the rental car during the rental period through no fault of your own, Avis will ensure that the rental car is repaired in the Netherlands within 4 hours at no charge. If repair is not possible, we offer you replacement transportation free of charge.

One-way

Would you like to return your rented passenger car or passenger van to a location outside of the Netherlands? You can! Our one-way service is available on request for a fee. When booking, specify where you want to return the rental car.
